Classique Rattrapante
A very fine and attractive white gold split-seconds chronograph wristwatch with guilloché dial and warranty
Full-Cataloguing
- The present watch demonstrates the excellence in guilloché technique of Breguet. The dial has two patterns, with the main surface in the Clous de Paris pattern and sub-dials in the Vieux Panier pattern, which were made in a labour-intensive method by hand-turning on a rose engine lathe. The dial also has two secret Breguet signatures between the XII and I, XI and XII numerals.
- Based on the Lemania cal. 2320 movement, the complicated split-second complication could be achieved in a stable manner by adopting an isolator mechanism. It is a highly sought after movement as Patek Philippe also uses the movement ébauche to develop its calibre CH 27-70. The movement is also aesthetically pleasing as it is decorated with Côtes de Genève patterns throughout and side beveled edges.
- This Breguet Classique Rattrapante, rarely seen in auctions, is a harmonic merge of fine horologic manufacture and remarkable craftsmanship. For collectors that enjoy such crafts, this is an item that should not be left out.
Breguet
Swiss | 1775Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.
Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
