Catalogue Essay
The Reine de Naples wristwatch is based on a bracelet watch created by Abraham Louis Breguet for the younger sister of Napoleon Bonaparte, Caroline. Born in 1782, she married Joachim, King of Naples, and was Queen Consort of Naples from 1808 until 1815. Today, the watch has a timeless elegance, and is sold in both white and yellow gold, with or without metal bracelets. The bezel and dial flange are set with 128 diamonds with an approximate total weight of 0.83 cts.

The present example Breguet Reine de Naples features an elegant mother-of-pearl dial with moon phases, 40-hour power reserve indication and small seconds. Cased in 18K white gold with diamond-setting on the bezel and inner rim of the case, the appeal is simply chic and perfect for an evening ball. Offered in attractive overall condition, the present timepiece is complete with its original warranty and presentation box.

Breguet

Swiss | 1775
Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.

Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
