Introduced at the 2016 SIHH, the double balance wheel skeletonized movement powering this model took the market by surprise. A patented Audemars Piguet innovation, the main idea consists of adding a second balance wheel and spiral to the escapement, thus increasing the timekeeping capabilities and resistance to mechanical perturbations thanks to increased momentum. Not only they achieved to develop a novel solution, but furthermore the dual superimposed wheels turned out to be a striking aesthetic element, allowing the balance wheel to appear completely unobstructed on both dial side and movement side.

As a result, it is not surprising that the model has become one of the most sought-after Audemars Piguet creations. Beyond its impressive technical attributes, the watch exudes visual appeal. Housed within a modern 41 mm 18K pink gold Royal Oak case, the skeletonized cal. 3132 is adorned with ruthenium-coated bridges, bestowing a gun-metal sheen across the movement, except for the stunning balance bridge. While much of the movement is meticulously diamond-cut, the solid pink gold balance bridge stands out, it is hand-finished using traditional Swiss watchmaking techniques and immediately captures the wearer’s attention, complemented by matching pink gold hands.

Offered with no signs of usage the watch has developed a faint layer of warm patina on its gold surfaces. Retaining its stickers on its clasp and crisp case, the watch is further complete with a full set of accessories.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881

A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.

Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
