Good To Know:

- Attractive tropical dial
- One of only 76 examples made in 18k yellow gold

The Royal Oak Offshore Triple Calendar was first introduced in 1996, departs from the Offshore line’s usual sporting DNA through its distinctive dial layout and unconventional leather strap. While the dial retains the Royal Oak’s signature “Petite Tapisserie” texture, the model adds a triple‑date complication: day and month apertures sit side‑by‑side at 12 o’clock, while a central pointer tracks the date around the dial.

The yellow‑gold variant is exceptionally rare. In the total of 680 pieces made across 2 metals, just 76 pieces were produced in yellow gold, making it far less common than the stainless steel examples. The present watch is notable not only for its scarcity but for the striking golden tropical patina the dial has developed. Originally blue, the dial has naturally faded and aged to reveal the underlying colour of the dial plate, the result is a warm, golden hue that is unique to each example depending on exposure and wear. That patination extends subtly to the case, creating a harmonised neo‑vintage aesthetic prized by many collectors.

With this combination of attractive natural ageing, the present Royal Oak Offshore is an especially compelling acquisition for collectors seeking a distinctive and characterful Audemars Piguet.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881

A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.

Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
