- The present watch commemorates 125 years since the beginning of the celebrated firm Audemars Piguet
- One side of the dial displays the time with a guilloché dial, the other side tells the time through wandering hours and the star wheel system
Produced in a limited edition, the present open-face watch commemorates the 125th anniversary of the celebrated firm Audemars Piguet, founded in 1875 in Le Brassus by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet. Carrying the reference 25913, this pocket watch features two dials: while one side displays the time with a guilloché dial, the other reveals the time through the wandering hours star wheel system.
On one side, the design remains reassuringly traditional: a rich blue enamel dial with crisp white printed numerals. The outermost track takes the form of a railroad-style minute scale, inside of which sits a ring of Roman numerals marking the hours. Flipping the watch reveals another way of telling time. Openworked, and together with the transparent sapphire star-wheel discs, it offers an almost uninterrupted view of the calibre’s mechanics. Three transparent sapphire discs, each printed with the hours, rotate on a central wheel, with the current hour acting as the hand to trace the minutes across the arc at 12 o’clock—a display that is as ingenious as it is poetic.
Offered in excellent condition, this watch represents the end of an era. While the star wheel system was introduced in 1991, after 2003 Audemars Piguet would no longer use it, only reintroducing the complication in 2023 with the Code 11.59 collection.
