- 1986 marked the year Audemars Piguet unveiled its first automatic chronograph wristwatch with a date function. Although initially released without a formal collection name, the model later became known in some Italian-market catalogues from 1988 as the “Huitième”. A watch of several firsts, reference 25644 was also Audemars Piguet’s inaugural model offered in tantalum, alongside yellow gold and platinum variants.

- Clad in a soft, warm yellow-gold case, the present wristwatch is fitted with a silvered dial that has gently aged to a pleasing creamy tone. The hands and subdials echo the case’s hue, creating a harmonious and well-proportioned aesthetic. Bearing a “C” serial, this example is almost certainly among the earlier examples of the reference.
