The present Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore ref. 25970ST is a commemorative edition celebrating the handover of Hong Kong to the People’s Republic of China on July 1, 1997. This significant day is honored by the brand with one of its most iconic luxury sports watches of all time.
Featuring the iconic 38mm diameter case and a desirable salmon tapisserie dial, this reference includes the modern convenience of a dual-time function and the stainless steel variant was produced as a limited edition of only 100 pieces. Engraved with the number 078 on the Royal Oak Offshore caseback, it also showcases a rare Chinese engraving of the brand name “愛彼錶”, a very captivating detail.
Nearly 30 years after its launch, this rare example is highly collectible and was serviced by Audemars Piguet in 2024. It is undoubtedly a watch that holds significant importance in the history of both Hong Kong and Swiss watchmaking.
