A treasured timepiece, the present example is an exquisite specimen of the Audemars Piguet Chronograph from 1994. The reference 25563 was produced from 1981 to 1993, with only 67 pieces made. It is believed that 56 were crafted in yellow gold, 10 in pink gold, and just 1 in platinum. It was never a part of the main catalog but was available to order for selected VIP clients at the time.

While many skeletonized chronographs of the era utilized the solid and reputable Lemania 2310 caliber, Audemars Piguet opted for the classic Valjoux 23 ébauche. Production of the Valjoux 23 had already ceased by 1979 and it is characterized by 9 column wheel teeth and a dual register layout.

This timepiece boasts a strong and distinctive identity. Crafted in pink gold, it features an attractive silvered skeletonized dial that is different than the gilt movement found in yellow gold examples. The skeletonized dial showcases the intricate workings of the chronograph mechanism, while the sapphire caseback offers an impressive view of the decorations and engravings, allowing them to be admired in all their glory.

Rarely appearing in international auctions, this well-preserved piece is part of the last batch produced by the Audemars Piguet factory in 1994, as confirmed by the Extract from the Archives—a stunning example of horological finesse from the neo-vintage era.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881

A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.

Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
