Catalogue Essay
- In 2006, Audemars Piguet introduced the Rubens Barrichello II Royal Oak Offshore to honor the celebrated Brazilian F1 driver. Barrichello began his F1 career in 1993 and won his first Grand Prix at the German Grand Prix in 2000 while racing for Ferrari alongside teammate Michael Schumacher. Over his impressive career, he accumulated over 658 career points, securing 68 podium finishes and 11 victories.

- The Royal Oak Offshore Rubens Barrichello II series was released in three different metals: 150 examples in platinum, 500 in pink gold, and 1,000 in titanium. Its design stands apart from regular Offshore models, featuring a striking black ceramic bezel with oversized screws, as well as oversized rectangular pushers and crown. Tailored for a racing driver, these larger components facilitate easier time adjustments and chronograph activation while wearing gloves.

- This particular example is extremely well-preserved and has been seldom worn. It comes complete with all accessories, including the original price tag from Japan. Numbered 55 of a limited edition of 1,000, it represents a fantastic timepiece to sport for a day at the track.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881
A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.
Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
