Catalogue Essay

As women collectors become increasingly knowledgeable in the realm of haute horology, the Royal Oak remains a preferred choice due to its rich heritage and aesthetic appeal.

The journey of the Mini Royal Oak began in 1976 with the release of reference 8638, featuring a 29mm diameter. The ladies’ collection has since evolved, offering various sizes as small as 20mm. In 2024, Audemars Piguet unveiled the new Royal Oak Mini 67630, and the reception has been overwhelmingly positive.

Throughout the 1990s, numerous dial iterations were created to cater to a diverse array of female collectors. Notably, the demand for the Mini Royal Oak was driven by Japanese collectors, who at the time were enamored with miniature watches. The current reference 66344BA is crafted in elegant 18k yellow gold and features a pavé diamond-set dial adorned with striking ruby indexes.

Bedazzled with Top Wesselton diamonds on the bezel, this lady’s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is a charming and petite example, powered by a quartz movement that offers convenience for collectors who want a watch that’s ready to wear even after a few days of inactivity. With its 24mm yellow gold case, this timepiece is both elegant and chic, setting trends in the market. It comes as a full set, complete with a certificate and the original presentation box.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881

A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.

Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
