- In 1875, Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet founded Audemars Piguet upon a shared vision of harnessing timekeeping to achieve artistic mastery. While Piguet minded daily affairs, Audemars led technical pursuits – pioneering minute repeating wristwatches and grand complication pocket watches that placed the manufacture at the forefront.
- More than a century later, Audemars Piguet launched the ref. 25873 Jules Audemars Tourbillon, incorporating a tourbillon and an automatic movement, as well as a power reserve and date display. Within beats the self-winding cal. 2875 and a stunning achievement of mechanical mastery. To reduce the thickness of the movement, Audemars Piguet implemented a bumper winding system rather than a rotor, shifting the placement of the crown from its typical location at 3 o’clock to the reverse of the case.
- In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Jules-Louis Audemars, the maison released a special reference of the Jules Audemars Tourbillon with caseback engraved ‘150 Ans Jules Audemars’. The present example in white gold is preserved in excellent overall condition for the discerning collector who seeks to acquire a rare neo-vintage masterwork that keeps time to imagination freed from constraint.
