- Atelier Wen is a creative brand bringing together French and Chinese creative minds to create watches re-defining modern Chinese style. Atelier is the French word for workshop and Wen is the Chinese word for culture.

- In April 2024 For Atelier Wen exhibited for the very first time at the Geneva Watches & Wonders, and for this occasion, the brand invited its master guilloché craftsman, Cheng Yucai based in China, to attend. Cheng Yucai is Asia’s only guilloché master craftsman. He is fully self taught and built his rose engines by himself - holding patents for them.

- During the fair, Cheng Yucai continuously used his rose engine to craft dials. Despite the agitation around, he managed to complete 3 dials, each with a different pattern. Those dials are thus, technically, made in Geneva.

- Atelier Wen decided to assemble those dials locally in Geneva, with the help of a local watchmaker, Fabiano Pericles. This was a tongue in cheek move by the brand. As the dial was created and mounted in Geneva they can be called “Crafted in Geneva” instead of “Made in China and as such the case back displays an engraving indicating Crafted in China with the China struck out and relaced by Geneva.

- By doing so the brand wished to underline that geographical appellations in themselves cannot be the sole predicament of quality and that origin in itself does not mean much but that what matters are the individuals behind a watch and that talent and skills can be found anywhere.

- Each of the 3 watches that Fabiano Pericles assembled are unique. Two were offered to the partners of the brand and the present is the only example to come to the market.

- All the proceeds of the sale will go to UNESCO China to support local endeavours to foster and preserve traditional culture and craftsmanship.
