Good to know:

- Numbered 100 of a limited edition of 100 pieces
- Inspired from the A. Lange & Söhne observatory clock No. 83193 from 1935
- Innovative Sax-O-mat movement for easy time-setting

The present Grosse Langematik Gangreserve is numbered 100, belonging to the platinum case variant. The design of the watch is based on the historic A. Lange & Söhne observatory clock No. 83193 from 1935, which is an important piece to show the capability of the brand in maritime and observatory fine watchmaking. Whilst most of the design elements are retained, the Langematik Gangreserve, not as spacious as the No. 83193, had to do minor design adjustments, refining the proportion of the layout like the sub-dial and power reserve indication. Another nice touch is the logo, instead of the usual “I/SA” to indicate the origin, it has the full “Sachsen” to emphasis its roots from the state. The present watch houses the cal. L921.6, which is Sax-O-mat movement with a 21K gold micro-rotor, featuring an innovative time-setting mechanism that automatically resets the seconds hand to zero when the crown is pulled to adjust the time.

Unlike other A. Lange & Söhne watches that comes with the standard presentation box, this limited edition watch comes with a wooden box that resembles the mechanical wooden box of marine chronometers used on ships. Kept in excellent condition, this watch is a desirable piece of German horologic excellence for maritime chronometer and German horology lovers.

A. Lange & Söhne

German | 1845

Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.

On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
