The Datograph, introduced in 1999, stands out as one of the company's most successful models. Featuring the in-house manual chronograph calibre L951.1 crafted from German silver, it quickly gained acclaim among enthusiasts for its exceptional movement design, intricate finishing, and hand-engraved components like the signature balance cock.

In 2004, A. Lange & Söhne introduced the Double Split, a groundbreaking wristwatch featuring a flyback chronograph with a double rattrapante mechanism—a first in horological history. Encased in a large 43mm case is the in-house caliber L001.1. While resembling the Datograph in design, the Double Split offers enhanced complexity with its unique double split function for comparing two times, a pioneering feature in wristwatches. This innovation allows for lap measurements up to 30 minutes, ideal for timing events like Formula 1 or horse races. With 465 components, the Double Split is a highly intricate timepiece.

This platinum A. Lange & Söhne Double Split from 2012, maintained in pristine condition, includes its original guarantee and presentation box, exemplifying the brand's commitment to excellence.

  • Artist Biography

    A. Lange & Söhne

    German • 1845

Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.

On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
