Few manufacturers in the world carry the gravitas of their name like Patek Philippe. The brand’s commitment to excellence in Haute Horlogerie is unwavering, and their track record of innovation in design is matchless. For decades, the ref. 2499 has stood on the nucleus of Patek Philippe collecting circles, and its popularity and following are unquestionably justified.

Successor to the legendary Patek Philippe ref. 1518 — the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar wristwatch with chronograph function, the ref. 2499 was launched in 1950 and has since been in public consensus to be one of the most beautiful, impeccable and elegant wristwatches of all time. It is undisputedly a masterpiece of horology.

Due to the extremely complex technical prowess required, only a total of 349 examples were created during its production, in which about 110 pieces were cased in yellow gold. The present watch belongs to the 4th series of this legendary model, featuring round chronograph buttons, applied baton numerals, outer seconds divisions and sapphire crystal. With the 4th series, Patek Philippe added /100 to the reference number which consequently became ref 2499/100.

Made in 1980, this watch is kept in an awe-inspiringly amazing condition. This bedazzling example has a beautiful case, fitted with an achingly gorgeous dial and a flawless movement. Most noticeably, the signature stepped lugs of the dial remain to be very well-defined and powerful. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming the dial configuration and production, this reference 2499 is a potent mix of historical relevance, horological mastery and artistic craftsmanship, and now-or-never opportunity to own Patek Philippe’s most iconic model.
