Produced in 1997 for the Japanese market in a limited edition run of 40 pieces, the present Omega Speedmaster, nicknamed “The Golden Panda” has become one of the most coveted and collectible of all modern Speedmaster limited editions for its extreme rarity and good looks. Cased in 18K yellow gold, the black registers and the black bezel contrast nicely against the silvery-white dial. A similar design was used in the 2016 Omega Speedmaster Limited Edition with blue tachymeter bezel, white dial, and blue sub-registers, to much success.
Preserved in excellent condition for over two decades, and accompanied by an Extract from the Archives of Omega indicating delivery to Hong Kong, to have this piece in their collection would be a coup for the discerning Moonwatch collector. Making a seldom-seen appearance on the public market, this "Golden Panda" will delight discerning collectors of Speedmaster.

In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements.
