    Wei Jia, David III, 2007
Sold by Phillips London for £37,500, 3 October 2019

Wei Jia's early works resonate with narratives filled with youthful and rebellious sensitivities. However, around 2010, his artistic focus evolved. He delved deeper into the exploration of human nature, emphasizing themes of singularity and universality. Through his art, Wei Jia seeks to understand the intricate relationship between the individual and the collective. In Time Elapsed, 2015, Wei Jia portrays an apocalyptic world where the sole human being stood alone on top of the mountain. The sense of isolation is reminiscent of Matthew Wong’s works in which the artist frequently featured a solitary lone wanderer in a dreamland.
