“Everything exists in a long, fragile yet miraculous, borderless continuity of life.” —teamLab
teamLab is an international interdisciplinary art collective, consisting of various specialists including artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians and architects, whose collaborative practice sits at the confluence of art, science, technology and the natural world. Aiming to explore the relationship between the self and the world, teamLab transcends their perceived boundaries by creating new relationships through art.
Flowers and People – Dark is a computer program that continuously renders the work in real time. Flowers bud, grow, and blossom before their petals wither and fade away, a cycle of growth and decay that repeats itself in perpetuity. New phases are triggered as the viewer approaches the work, the interaction causing continuous changes in the artwork. Previous visual states can never be replicated and will never reoccur, a meditation upon the ephemeral beauty of life.
teamLab’s works are in prestigious institutional collections including at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; Asian Art Museum, San Francisco; Asia Society Museum, New York; and National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne. teamLab is represented by Pace Gallery.
