Catalogue Essay
Beginning in 1960, T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings collaborated with the Athens firm Eleftherios Saridis to reconstruct furniture designs from ancient Greece, including chairs, tables, and stools. For the present pair of Trapeza tables, Gibbings took castings from a bronze leg in the Palermo Museum, Sicily, while the design of the table came from a kylix in the Berlin Museum dating to the first half of the fifth century BCE.
