Further Details

This adorable suite of images is from an unknown series depicting young ice skaters at Rockefeller Center in 1948. Children were a favored subject of Orkin’s and here she masterfully captures each child’s vibrancy and uniqueness. Another image from this series was used in the below advertisement for pharmaceutical company E.R. Squibb & Sons.

The caption reads:

“From experience comes faith...

Ups-a-daisy!

Is she hurt? Not at all. She’ll try again.

Each fall – and most of us have many – teaches us something of value. For example, we learn the worth of a helping hand.

And so each experience increases our judgement, teaches us what to believe in, what to trust... gives us a faith that guides us to people and things of worth.”
