The exquisite and subtle rabbit brooches count as some of Raymond Yard’s most collectible and iconic designs. The very first of the series appeared in 1928, known as the dapper bunny, who wore a top hat, carrying a cane and bouquet of flowers. Between 1929 and 1931, Yard made a small series of similar rabbit waiters with colour accents in enamel and a freely-swinging bucket. This very brooch should belong to those created in the 1930's, where calibré-cut sapphires, rubies and emeralds replaced enamel on the rabbits’ clothing. By playing with the various combinations of gemstones and the tray-and-bucket contents, no two rabbits are exactly identical. This brooch is therefore a piece of unique designed jewellery from the Art Deco period.
