  • Catalogue Essay

With a respected history of manufacturing some of the world’s most important chronograph wristwatches, Patek Philippe entered into a new milestone in 2010 when they launched the reference 5170. The model was the first chronograph reference throughout the lineage of Patek Philippe chronograph wristwatches to feature an in-house caliber CH 29-535 PS. Succeeding the reference 5070, the last Lemania based wristwatch produced by Patek Philippe, the new reference bears a case that took inspirations from their early chronograph watches.

First introduced with in yellow gold, the ref. 5170 had undergone various dial and case configurations. In Baselworld 2017, Patek Philippe introduced the newest variant and perhaps the rarest variant of the model in platinum with a blue fumé dial with baguette diamond indexes.

The present example of a Patek Philippe ref. 5170P is offered in unworn single sealed condition and is further accompanied by the complete set of accessories that came with the watch when it was purchased by the original owner from Japan.
