  • Catalogue Essay

    - Reference 5711 was launched in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original Nautilus. Perpetuating the heritage of the original Gérald Genta design, the 5711 differs only slightly from the original, and features a larger case measuring a case width of 42.5mm (40mm diameter) paired with its iconic greyish blue ribbed dial and integrated bracelet.

    - It further boasts a sapphire case back enabling the wearer to admire the in-house caliber 324 SC at work, and revealing the 21k gold rotor with Côtes de Genève which runs more efficiently due to its heavier gold properties. A Patek Philippe seal is found on the golden rotor, matching the post-2010 production period of the second series of the movement.

    - When the 5711 was discontinued in 2021 after its 15-year production run (and briefly succeeded by a final green dial edition and the talk-of-the-town Tiffany & Co. iteration), the level of demand for the watch soared exponentially, cementing the 5711 as one of the most sought-after and recognizable modern timepieces ever created by Patek Philippe.

    - Coincidentally featuring a movement number starting with 5’711’XXX, and one of approximately 60 examples of reference 5711/1A-010 to appear on the auction market to date, the present ref. 5711 is preserved in an excellent condition, and accompanied by the Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin and all its original accessories.

    Patek Philippe

    Swiss • 1839

Since its founding in 1839, this famous Geneva-based firm has been surprising its clientele with superbly crafted timepieces fitted with watchmaking's most prestigious complications. Traditional and conservative designs are found across Patek Philippe's watches made throughout their history — the utmost in understated elegance.

Well-known for the Graves Supercomplication — a highly complicated pocket watch that was the world’s most complicated watch for 50 years — this family-owned brand has earned a reputation of excellence around the world. Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
