Currently living and working in both New York City and Tokyo, American artist Nikki is an emerging talent in the world of contemporary art, celebrated for her artworks that aim to capture the joyful experiences of her childhood memories in America and Germany.
Like the work of Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, the subject of Nikki’s artwork is a large headed, youthful girl who although is endearing, has a mischievous streak too. In the present painting, the sparkling-eyed child is situated on a tricycle at the centre of the composition, appearing to float in a starry sky. Unlike Nara, however, Nikki employs an experimental combination of spray paint and airbrush techniques to render her paintings almost mechanically flat, evoking the luminosity of a digital screen as viewers’ imagination animates beyond the physical world.
Nikki currently lives and works in New York City and Tokyo. The artist’s recent exhibitions include MILK, a group presentation at the Dorothy Circus Gallery in London in 2022, and GREEN Exhibition Save the abandoned animals at the National Taiwan Arts Education Center in 2021. The artist is represented by FNG-ART.
