    “As I worked on the paintings, and put more paint over the plates, I noticed different ways plates and images could reside on the surface as images. I imagined different possible configurations of the structure. Paintings came out of other paintings, a set of possible visions to explore. For the moment, it looked like a vision of madness. It had a quality of paintingness but it was something other than art.” Julian Schnabel
