Blue Diary represents a series of stories written in a forgotten diary. The work’s themes draw from the various stories and while the symbols and writings may seem random and whimsical, they ultimately chronicle a life in the form of a painting.

Indra Dodi (b. 1980, Indonesia) has been gaining attention regionally for works that appear simple and naïve, but are in fact skilfully composed to convey anecdotes, dreams and stories. Known in his early career as an abstract painter, Dodi’s style has evolved to encompass a unique visual language featuring figurative elements and doodles. He has exhibited widely in exhibitions including U(DYS)TOPIA, a collaborative project by artists from Germany and Indonesia, leading to three exhibitions in Germany; and Crossing Sign, a series of four exhibitions across four cities in Indonesia. Dodi’s work entitled Happy Day was one of ten nominees for the Outstanding Work of Art Award, part of Asian Art in London 2019.
