This boldly signed photograph comes originally from the collection Dallas retail executive Stanley Marcus who acquired it directly from Erwin Blumenfeld. Marcus (1905-2002) served as both president and chairman of the board of the luxury department store Neiman Marcus, founded by his father and aunt. Marcus was a noted collector and patron of the arts as well as a photographer, and his love for the medium led him to correspond with Blumenfeld, whose highly inventive approach to photography he had admired. The photograph offered here is part of a select group of prints Blumenfeld gave Marcus in exchange for a case of champagne.
