  • Description

Elizabeth Murray was a neo-expressionist force of the 1990s. Alternating between formalist painting and gestural collage, her work catapulted lasting influences of expressionist painting into an aesthetic that dominated popular culture approaching the millennium. Murray flipped the script at the Gemini G.E.L. print workshop in Los Angeles. By abandoning the strict process of regularized editions, she achieved a sculptural process of assemblage that combined various printed and paper elements into unique and dimensional pieces. Throughout Talk, this multi-process work of screenprint, lithography and pastel elements, Murray’s inimitable voice rings clear.
