  • Catalogue Essay

    - Over 200 years ago, Abraham-Louis Breguet invented the tourbillon as a solution to the challenge of accurate timekeeping in the face of gravity's effects. Since then, numerous watchmaking powerhouses have sought to interpret this grand complication in their own unique ways, building upon their heritage and expertise.

    - Blancpain is no exception, as they have always been pushing the boundaries of watchmaking and continuously improve horological complications. In 1998, they introduced the calibre 25, the world's first self-winding tourbillon with an impressive 8-day power reserve.

    - One distinguishing feature of Blancpain's timepieces is the off-set tourbillon carriage, which lacks an upper bridge. This design allows for an unobstructed and captivating view of the intricate mechanism at work.

    - In addition to its visual appeal, this timepiece numbered 28 offers practicality and wearability. With its date function and luminous dial, it remains easily readable in any circumstance. These features combine to create an elegant timepiece that is also practical at the same time. Please note that the proceeds of the sale of the present watch will be given by the Consignor to various charities.

  • Artist Biography

    Blancpain

    Swiss • 1735

As the watchmaking brand with the earliest founding date, Blancpain remains close to tradition, concentrating on classical mechanical watches. Established in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain, the Le Brassus manufacturer today continues to innovate with the development of high-quality calibres and is proud of their heritage, having never made quartz watches. One of the firm's greatest successes was the Fifty Fathom wristwatch introduced in 1953 — the vintage models of which are now highly coveted by collectors. The earliest dive watch available to the market, Fifty Fathom came out a year prior to Rolex's Submariner.  Another key model is the Air Command from the 1960s, considered one of the most mythical collector's watches due to their extreme rarity. Today, the firm specializes in creative innovated complicated timepieces.
