Catalogue Essay
“I am interested in our relationship to technology, to structures, and to the architecture around us. Only with these structures do we allow our feelings to emerge: a body to love, an airplane to explore, a pencil to draw.” Analia Saban

Argentinean-born Analia Saban reinterprets traditional painting convention as she explores the results of her own trial and error. In Erosion (Kitchen), Saban simultaneously breaks apart and reconstructs the picture plane, blurring the lines between painting and sculpture. The soft muted tones of the canvas converge with the harsh planar geometry of the laser-cut acrylic, creating a feeling of quiet displacement in an otherwise inviting interior. Through this play with space and method, Saban transforms architectural studies into rich inquiries into her own psyche.
