The limited edition Langematik Anniversary Jubilee was first introduced in 2000. With a limited series of 500 examples the German manufacturer decided to commemorate the new millennium casing its timepieces in platinum with an elegant and refined white grand feu enamel dial.

To achieve such a flawless and authentic dial it takes a crafted emailleur over 30 different steps including a kiln process of heating the dial at high temperatures. Dedicated in preserving heritage and authenticity, the Langematik showcases a separately printed red numeral «XII», chemin-de-fer style chapter ring, alpha style blue steel hands and classic small seconds hand with Lange’s patented zero-reset mechanism. Such mechanism enables to re-set the second hand to 0 when the crown is pulled.

The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the beautifully decorated in-house caliber L 921.7 SAX-O-MAT featuring a bidirectional micro rotor in 24K yellow gold and platinum as well as the signature hand-engraved balance cock.

The present example number 271, is offered with the full set accessories and original guarantee stamped 2009. Beyond the well preserved platinum case and extremely crisp dial, the timepiece is well balanced with black and red roman numerals and blue alpha hands. With a diameter of 37mm, the timepiece can easily adorn the wrist of collectors that appreciate a slim and elegant dress watch to be worn for truly special occasions.
Extremely high in demand amongst collectors ,the present lot offers a special opportunity for any true A. Lange and Söhne connoisseur to acquire a rare and extremely fine limited-edition wristwatch.

  • Artist Biography

    A. Lange & Söhne

    German • 1845

Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.

On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
