Of shield-shaped form, the base decorated with a medium blue guilloché enamel, overlaid with an elaborate scrolling monogram of King Ludwig II of Bavaria (1864-1886) set with rose-, single- and circular-cut diamonds, the border surrounded with collet-set circular-cut diamonds, the red enamel part, surmounted by a crown motif, and accented with circular-cut emeralds, sapphires, rubies, rose- and single-cut diamonds, measuring approximately 40 x 33mm, assay mark for gold, fitted case stamped by Lucas Lortz (Würzburg).
