Of rectangular shape, the hinged cover applied with 'LP' monogram of Louis-Philippe d'Orléans, King of the French from 1830 to 1848, surmounted by a royal crown, set with circular-, single- and rose-cut diamonds, the boarders intricately engraved with floral, foliate and scroll motifs, the reverse and sides further decorated with engine turned engraving, measuring approximately 85 x 53mm, numbered, French maker's mark for Alexandre Raoul Morel and assay mark for gold.
