The Patek Philippe Nautilus is one of the most iconic and coveted luxury wristwatches of all time, and to celebrate the model’s 40th anniversary in 2016, the manufacture unveiled two exceptional limited edition timepieces. Among them was the Ref. 5976/1G-001, a striking chronograph that pays tribute to the Nautilus legacy while introducing bold new design elements. Featuring a commemorative dial embossed with ‘1976-40-2016’, diamond-set hour markers, and an enlarged 44mm white gold case—the largest ever in the Nautilus family—this reference stands as one of the most unique and significant models in the collection.
The Ref. 5976/1G-001 draws inspiration from the earlier ref. 5980, released in 2006 to mark the Nautilus’s 30th anniversary. Powered by the same self-winding caliber CH 28-520 C, the ref. 5976 retains the same case thickness as its predecessor but, thanks to its larger diameter, wears thinner and more comfortably on the wrist.
Produced in a limited edition of 1,300 unnumbered pieces, the ref. 5976/1G-001 was released alongside the platinum Ref. 5711/1P, both featuring the commemorative dial and diamond hour markers.
The present example is a truly exceptional find in excellent condition. It comes complete with all its original accessories, including the highly prized cork presentation box, certificate, and documentation.

Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
