Since 1904, the Cartier Santos has been the iconic ambassador for rectangular watches, with the modern Santos-Dumont models being the poster child. The modern “XL” mechanique was re-issued in three metals, platinum, yellow gold, and rose gold, limited to 200 pieces each. This red cabochon platinum model, adorned by not just a warm, cream colored guilloche dial, but also its Roman numerals are carved out from red jasper stones, complementing the Breguet-style hands which are rarely seen on any Cartier watches.
