Property Title: Formerly the Property of a Cuban American Family

This jewelry collection traces its origins to a brave young man, whose life journey spanned three continents. After surviving incredible odds in World War 1, he traveled to Germany to begin a new life, where he took interest in the craft of jewelry and watches and began to acquire fine jewelry of European tradition, like the French Emerald, Diamond, Gold and Platinum Evening Bag (Lot 25) and the Diamond and the Diamond and Ruby Pendant Necklace (Lot 34) offered here. By the 1920s, this gentleman emigrated to Havana, Cuba to avoid religious persecution. In Cuba, he established a thriving jewelry and watch business and became an importer of Omega watches, one of which remained in his collection and is featured in this auction (Lot 62). Anticipating political upheaval in Cuba, he relocated to the United States in 1957 carrying his treasured pieces for a third time. His passion for jeweled watches continued and he is said to have made introductions for Piaget watches to North America through his Rockefeller Center office in the 1960s, famously gifting them to Miss Universe and Miss America winners. Lot 61 is a unique Piaget watch bracelet that remained with the family. This collection represents one man’s journey and reminds us of the universal appeal of fine jewelry and watches.

Ever so lightly pink, this remarkable stone's color first meets the eye as though it were a mirage. Like a feminine blush, it invites a closer look, and we discover that this marquise-shaped 15.12 carat diamond is simply extraordinary. Accompanied by a GIA report stating that the stone is Very Light Pink, Natural Color, and VVS2 Clarity, it's also classified as Type IIa — Type IIa diamonds are classified as being in their purest state without traceable elements. Jackie Kennedy-Onassis in Van Cleef & Arpels

In 1977, Jackie Kennedy-Onassis wore a pair of these bracelets to a charity event at New York City's famed Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, where she met Mohammed Ali. As the quintessential fashion influencer of the era, her every move was followed by the press. Ever since, these bracelets have often been referred to as the “Jackie O” Cuff Bracelets.

The Van Cleef & Arpels cuffs exude power and confidence through sculpted 18k yellow gold. The design references Etruscan goldwork, where pieces were hand-worked and often showed irregular surfaces. What’s more, Van Cleef & Arpels commemorated the Apollo moon landing of 1969 with a gold pendant, and although not intended, we can’t help but think of the otherworldly surfaces when admiring this texture.

What is a Priority Bid?

\n\n

Priority Bids are written, binding bids that must be placed no less than 48 hours in advance of an auction’s start time. The bid must be equal to or greater than the lot’s published low estimate and placed using Phillips’ absentee bid forms.

\n\n

Bidders who have placed Priority Bids ahead of the auction, if they are the winning bidder and satisfy the other conditions of Priority Bidding, will benefit from a Buyer’s Premium rate which is significantly lower than the Buyer’s Premium rate otherwise. This benefit applies whether their winning bid is at the amount of their early Priority Bid or a higher bid placed subsequently by them bidding live in the auction.

\n\n

The new Buyer’s Premium structure featuring Priority Bidding rates is effective from 1 September 2025 and applies to all live auctions in the Fall 2025 season and for all categories, excluding Watches.

\n\n

Watch auctions (both live and timed online auctions) will continue using the same Buyer’s Premium rates that applied in the spring 2025 sale season and will not be eligible for Priority Bidding. Details of these rates can be found here.

\n\n

Timed online-only auctions will be subject to the new standard Buyer’s Premium rates and are not currently eligible for Priority Bidding. You can find details of these rates here.

\n\n

How do I place a Priority Bid?

\n\n

To be eligible for a lower Buyer’s Premium through the scheme, you must leave a written bid at least 48 hours before the auction. The bid must be a written absentee bid.

\n\n

Submitting Priority Bids is simple:

\n\n

• Complete Phillips’ Absentee Bid Form with details of the Absentee Bid(s) you want to submit. You can download and complete the Bid Form here.

\n\n

• Ensure your written absentee Bids are at or above the published low estimate of the Lots you are bidding on.

\n\n

• Sign and send the form to Phillips’ Bids Department in the auction location before the 48-hour pre-auction cut-off. Forms can be emailed using the contact details found below.

\n\n

Please note that Priority Bids cannot be cancelled.
