    Vasily Klyukin

    Russian • 1976

Vasily Klyukin was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1976. Highlights from Klyukin’s artistic career include his album of architectural concepts, Designing Legends, from 2013. In 2017, the artist designed the Golden Madonnina statue, which won the official Design Prize at Milan Design Week. The same year, Klyukin contributed to the Burning Man festival through an on-site installation of Beating Heart. His solo exhibition, In Dante Veritas, opened in 2018 at the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg, and the sculpture park La Collection Air in Lucerne, Switzerland. In Dante Veritas will move to Venice from May to November 2019.

The artist is a dedicated environmentalist, and themes of conservation are prominent in Klyukin’s art. Why People Can’t Fly, 2018, features waste-filled balloons, specifically plastic waste from over 150 countries, holding down the human being. The work will be exhibited at Burning Man in 2019.

Klyukin’s works are located in collections throughout the world, including Moscow, London, Monte Carlo, Cannes and Ibiza. The artist’s support for amfAR, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has allowed his art to be sold at charity auctions worldwide.
