Shot by Vasantha Yogananthan in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, India, this photograph is from the acclaimed series A Myth of Two Souls. Inspired by the Ramayana, an epic poem from Hindu mythology, this body of work chronicles seven years of travel around India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Drawing inspiration from the imagery associated with the Ramayana and its pervasiveness in everyday Indian life, the seven-book project, A Myth of Two Souls, mixes daily life with staged pictures, combining a wide range of techniques, including hand-painted photography and collages.
