‘We wanted to build a camera that is constructed from words about photography, not photographic equipment. The idea is to be able to photograph through a collected body of knowledge.’

    Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs

To construct Book Cam 2, part of a series of camera-sculptures fashioned from unlikely objects, Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs hollowed out a carefully chosen selection of significant writings on photography, from François Laruelle’s recent The Concept of Non-Photography, to Peter C. Bunnell’s Inside the Photograph, and Ian Jeffrey’s seminal Photography: A Concise History. Imitating the form of a 19th century wooden view camera, with the books arranged in descending size order, the creative duo questions the concept of the camera.
