“I think that, most of all, I’m interested in the tragic-comical element: there’s humour and there is humility. I’m specifically interested in any kind of emotion that could enter my work. Some of my pieces are very depressing. When people accept to do them, they know it’s a ridiculous scenario, but they seem to enjoy it anyway. However, I also humiliate myself: at the end of the day, the only person who really turns out to be ridiculous is me.” (Maurizio Cattelan, in an interview with Robert Pinto, Maurizio Cattelan, New York, 2000, p. 138)
