  • Artist Biography

    Maison Alix Dumas

    French

Jewellery artist and accomplished craftswoman, Alix Dumas created the Mason Alix Dumas, in June 2020. It was created in France, between Paris and Britany, a feminine insight in a still very masculine world of high jewellery crafting workshops.

The Maison is characterised by the creator's wish to associate the famed French high-jewellery know-how to an artistic, sculptor's like approach, in order to create exceptional contemporary pieces. The activity of the creator is divided between bespoke and personal creation pieces.

Alix Dumas' proposition is to make few pieces each year. They are conceived and crafted in her workshop from noble materials exclusively, carefully chosen according to ethical and responsible criteria. Only unique pieces or limited editions are to be found. Colour and volume are at the heart of Alix Dumas's creation. She is very careful to the jewels link to the body since a jewel is made to be worn and adorn the wearer.

The volume of her creations may be unexpected, call it contemporary or audacious, but her pieces are very comfortable to wear, because for her, a jewel has a primitive sensual link to the body.

Her intention, since the release of Maison Alix Dumas, is to have different graphic styles dialoguing together, to develop a creative language where different techniques are intertwined with the moto: technique serves creativity.

All pieces produced by Alix Dumas are entirely handmade by the artist, from the first draft to the final polish, only the casting in precious metal and the setting of stones are subcontracted to Parisian renown craftsmen.
