Madeline Peckenpaugh’s imaginative landscapes utilize the materiality of paint and canvas to create complex visual fields at once flat but layered to create an imagined atmosphere exploring themes of decay and construction, urban and natural. Adding and subtracting paint, sometimes using glove-covered hands or other unique devices, Peckenpaugh creates depth through building upon layers until the image is revealed. The artist received her MFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design.
