Inspired by the ethereal beauty of the rainbow, this painting is emblematic of Made Wianta’s unique artistic style of combining intricate details, vibrant colours and symbolic motifs. The work is not only a visual spectacle, but also expresses what the artist imagines the experience of hearing a melodious sound coming from the rainbow might be like. This enthralling harmony, imagined as the whispering of the wind or the gentle rustling of rain-soaked soil, is evoked through a fusion of bright hues. Conceived as a message or a whispered secret from the rainbow, the work serves as a poetic reminder of the interconnections between nature’s beauty and the sensory experiences that accompany it.

Throughout his career, Wianta served as an Indonesia Art Ambassador and was a prominent figure in the global art community, representing Indonesian contemporary art on the international stage. His works are characterised by a fusion of traditional Balinese aesthetics with modern and contemporary elements. Wianta’s works have been showcased in exhibitions and museums globally, including his first solo exhibition at Centre Culturel Jacques Frank in Brussels, Belgium (1976), the 50th Venezia Biennale in Venice, Italy (2003) and the Singapore Art Museum (2015).
