Eden Seifu's fantastic paintings feature people of color, especially Black people, in surreal, dynamic settings of heightened emotion. By placing Black bodies in emotionally resonant scenes, Seifu grants people of color the dignity of representation, and identification with some of the most poignant and touching feelings in the human experience.
Seifu’s inspirations for her figurative paintings include Russian Symbolist paintings, illuminated manuscripts, romance novels, adventure anime, and comic books.
Seifu had her most recent solo show with Deli Gallery, New York, with Pilgrimage to my room,Jun.-Jul. 2023. She has exhibited work at the Frye Art Museum and Center on Contemporary Art, both in Seattle, and has been featured in numerous group shows.
I Will Tell You How The Mountains Were Made: God Descended And Said 'Dig' marks the artist's auction debut.
