    There's a considerable chance that any given piece of art with a heart has been made by Jim Dine. The artist has been prolific in his 60-plus years of producing works, from large-scale Pop-inflected paintings to emotive and lush collaged works-on-paper. Even while working within a childlike vocabulary, Dine has often been considered alongside rougher painters like Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, and has surprised critics and audiences by flexing his muscles as an original generator of performance art "Happenings" or towering series of sculptures.

    Dine never fails to surprise at the auction block. His best at-auction works, stemming from the 1960s, often double their pre-auction estimates. His two highest results were $420,000 in 2007 and $418,000 more recently in 2015.

The complete set of twenty-two prints comprising twelve lithographs and four etchings in colors, bound (as issued), and the loose suite of six lithographs and four etchings in colors, on Arches paper, the full sheets,
18 3/4 x 13 1/2 in. (47.6 x 34.3 cm)
the prints all signed in pencil, numbered 32/100 in black ink and stamped `Edition C' on the reverse (there were also 15 artist's proofs for this edition, editions A and B with editions of 200 and 25 artist's proofs for both), the book signed, annotated `Edition C' and numbered 33/100 in blue pencil on the last page, published by Petersburg Press, London, the prints with occasional pale foxing, pale mat and time staining, the book with pale offsetting on adjacent pages, otherwise all in very good condition, contained in original red snake-skin printed leather-covered portfolio with three-dimensional heart insert (minor wear).
