In 2014, to mark its 175th anniversary, Patek Philippe unveiled six celebratory limited edition timepieces showcasing the maison’s unrivalled artistry and technical prowess. Foremost among them was the ref. 5275P Chiming Jump Hour, the most intricate and striking creation of the series.

The watch draws inspiration from the ref. 3969, issued for the brand’s 150th anniversary in 1989, yet reinterprets the concept with a bold, contemporary presence. Crafted in platinum, the case and dial are richly engraved with a flowing floral scroll motif, which extends seamlessly across the sides and clasp, elevating the otherwise minimalist dial with artistic flourish.

At its heart lies the groundbreaking cal. 32‑650 HGS PS, the product of four years of dedicated research and development. This innovative movement advances the hours, minutes, and seconds instantly and in perfect synchrony, rather than in continuous motion. To achieve this, Patek Philippe registered four patents—three for the jumping system and one for isolating the chiming mechanism. The result is both a visual and acoustic marvel, with a crisp, resonant chime precisely aligned to the passing of time.

Measuring 40 mm in diameter and 47.5 mm lug‑to‑lug, the ref. 5275P makes a stronger statement than its commemorative predecessor, while retaining the refinement collectors expect from Patek Philippe. Produced in just 175 pieces, it stands as a rare testament to the maison’s mastery of both technical ingenuity and decorative craft—a pinnacle of fine watchmaking. The present example offered by the original owner in unworn condition is further accompanied by its full set of accessories.

Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
