Reference 130 was the first serially produced Patek Philippe chronograph. Launched in 1934, some of the earliest examples were custom-ordered and occasionally featured a Victorin Piguet ébauche. Shortly thereafter, the model was powered by a heavily modified Valjoux movement, cal. 13 130, designed to fit within the reference 130 case.

The model achieved remarkable success. Despite its nearly 30-year run, production was limited to around 1,500 pieces, predominantly in yellow gold, followed by pink gold and stainless steel, however, only around 60 pink-on-pink examples were known to the market. The gold cases were crafted by one of the finest casemakers of the time, Emile Vichet, marked by the number 9 inside a key stamped on the inner case back.

The present example is fresh to the market and particularly appealing, housed in a warm pink gold case and featuring a rare and highly coveted pink dial, creating a striking “pink on pink” configuration. The standout feature of this watch is its exceptional condition. The hallmarks are crisp, and the case proportions are well defined, with thick lugs retained. The dial is magnificently preserved, with hard enamel beautifully raised across the entire surface. The light patina on the case and indexes reflects careful preservation, having spent most of its life in a safe with minimal wrist time.
