- Initially focused on pocket watches, the collection expanded to include wristwatches in the 1920s to meet the growing demand for Swiss-made timepieces. Prior to the brand’s meteoric rise, their Brazilian partner pioneered the “Gondolo Gang”, an innovative marketing initiative that encouraged a new demographic of gentlemen to invest in watches as valuable assets.
- In 1902, Patek Philippe introduced a series of pocket watches inscribed with “Chronometro Gondolo” on the cuvette and sometimes on the dial. The present timepiece is powered by the esteemed cal. 20”’, known for its craftsmanship, and the movement is exceptionally well-preserved, displaying a delightful layer of patina.
- Encased in silver, a rarity among Patek Philippe watches as most are predominantly crafted in 18K gold. In these rare cases, pink gold is usually used for crafting the crown, pendant neck, lip, and hinges to provide an elegant contrast to the silver case. Over the years, an attractive patina has developed on the surface, imparting a unique character to this fine timepiece. It features a crisp white enamel dial with a small seconds sub-dial, while the gold hands offer a striking contrast, showcasing the watch’s tasteful execution both inside and out.
- Beautifully maintained in excellent overall condition, this piece comes with an Extract from the Archives confirming that the well-preserved guilloché caseback is original. This is a remarkable opportunity for collectors to acquire a piece of horological history that embodies the elegance and craftsmanship of Patek Philippe.
