The year 2014 marked the 175th anniversary of Patek Philippe, and in celebration of this significant milestone, the brand unveiled a series of exclusive limited edition watches. Among these were the hyper-complicated Grandmaster Chime ref. 5175 and the unconventional tonneau-shaped Chiming Jump Hour ref. 5275P. The ref. 5575G-001 and 7175R-001 however, stand out from this commemorative series, notable for being the first Patek Philippe World Time equipped with a second complication: the most poetic moon phases.
Encased in striking black, the present ref. 5575G features a monochromatic moon phase display at the center, complemented by a classic chapter ring showcasing 24 cities. The wearer can observe the moon's journey across the starry night sky as each month unfolds, thanks to the double-layered disc in the center. In a unique departure from traditional world time complications, the Central European time zone, which typically highlights Paris, has been replaced by Geneva, paying homage to the home city of Patek Philippe.
This captivating model was produced in a limited edition of 1,300 pieces, honoring Louis Cottier’s 1931 invention of the world time complication. Well-preserved in excellent overall condition, this World Time Moon is offered with its full set of original accessories.
