The Patek Philippe World Time has a tremendous heritage dated back to the early 1930’s, offered to the world by the father of the world time, Louis Cottier. The ref. 5131 was chronologically produced in various metals from 2008 in yellow gold , followed by white gold in 2009, pink gold in 2014 and finally platinum in 2017. First to be made in platinum and enhanced with a platinum ‘brick’ bracelet, the 5131P is surely opulent. Taking centre stage of the dial depicts a new hemisphere of the world, the North Pole. Executed in vast green of land and shades of blue of the deep sea, traces of icy white enamel evokes the land of true North , the map is stunning with gold wire intricately outlining the coasts of Canada and Russia. The 24 hour city ring features Hong Kong, Dubai and Moscow as representatives of their respective time zone. Later models will instead feature Beijing.

With only 6 platinum examples appeared previously in auction, the present example 5131P is in unused, pristine condition and remains preserved in its original single sealed packaging. Furthermore, it is fresh to the market, and offered with the Certificate of Origin, presentation box and hang tag. Discontinued just at the beginning of this year in 2021, the present lot is extremely rare and highly elusive, and is beyond doubt an opportunity not to miss.
